I realise rules vary from state to state. I have looked at the DMV website and elsewhere but none of them tell me how long the person you learn with has to have held their license for.

I am on the Big Island, Hawaii, Hilo and they don't sell any of these things in any of the shops, Walmart included. I have looked extensively.

let me clarify, I guess what I meant was is the actual driving easier than in the UK in practise because of the different road system etc?
I suppose a lot depends on where you live in the US

we moved to the Big Island of Hawaii 3 months ago from the UK. My husband has a UK driving license and I never got round to taking my test as I found I could manage quite well with local shops etc :)...
