Re: US citizen sponsoring brother over 21

To me the issue was my brother not being able to visit me for 10-12 years while he waits for his priority date nothing else.

Anyway, I think I got the information I needed.

Thank you all.

Re: US citizen sponsoring brother over 21

Okay, I will try to be more coherent.

You apply for US visitor visa you have to prove non-immigrant intent.

Although in a way it is funny to think that someone who is just about to get a permanent residence would jeopardize that by visiting and overstaying their visa ;)

Thank you!

The reason I asked if getting the visitor visa first was a good idea is because of I was concerned 'immigrant intent' could be raised if he already had I-130 pending when applying for visitor visa.

US citizen sponsoring brother over 21

Hi,

My brother seems to be interested in moving to the states (We know he will have to wait ~12 years).

I have two questions related to my petition for him:

1) We are from a country that...

Re: Question on sponsoring your sibling

Well, that's obvious. There is no guarantee that a billionaire would be let into the US either, but it is much more likely that visa officer will not suspect that he will want to stay in the US...

Re: Question on sponsoring your sibling

Yep, was a bit confused about AOS.

Russians get 3 year visitor visa, so I will suggest he gets the visa first and then we will proceed with the application.

Just hope they don't deny him at the...

Question on sponsoring your sibling

Hi,

I am newly US citizen and considering sponsoring my 25 yr old brother for a green card: I understand it will take 10-12 years.

He's never visited me before and I wonder if he may have...

Re: N400 and selective service registration

Hi guys,

Figured I'd report on what happened:

First of all, selective service told me it would take them 7-10 days to send me the card (they started the process on December 10th) and the funny...

Re: N400 and driving history

Thank you.

Couple more question on the subject:

What should I expect from the interview? Do majority of cases get approved right then or often times they tell you they need more time?

Also,...

Re: N400 and selective service registration

Cool, just making sure I don't need to wear a suit or something :)

Thanks for the feedback ;) I will just take the proof of registration with me in case they ask.

Re: N400 and selective service registration

I also like how they say in the letter "You must be properly attired and bring:". What is properly attired? Polo shirt, jeans, and snickers are fine?

Re: N400 and selective service registration

That's encouraging. I know it shouldn't matter, but I wanna make sure there is not a single thing they can screw me up with. I want this to be over :)

Re: N400 and selective service registration

Thank you, Noorah.

I just got off the phone with them and it looks like it only takes that long for initial registration with them. They will send me proof within 7-10 business days. :)
