Re: Marriage Declaration - Daughters Passport application.

Thank you...the first piece of sane information I've been provided with as opposed to the asinine remarks of yesterday.

Re: Passport Delays

I realise that...that was the whole point of this original question.

Providing her marriage certificate to another man isn't going to resolve anything for me or the British Passport Office, so I...

Re: Passport Delays

I've managed to get both UK and Canadian passports for two daughters already. This is absolutely the first time I've had a problem.

I'm well qualified in this process already.

Re: Passport Delays

I think I'd be doing her a favour at this point.

When she is old enough to apply on her own, it wont matter who her parents were married to at the time she was born, and she will be able to apply...

Re: Passport Delays

Actually no...if you recall I did actually mention that it wasn't that important to me, since she has her Canadian one already.

Thanks for reinforcing my decision though!

Re: Passport Delays

One can be furious and think it's funny at the same time...you know "If I didn't laugh, I'd cry" type thing?

Yeah, the help and support here has been fantastic. It just reminds me of all the...

Re: Passport Delays

And under the law I am the husband too - albeit "common law"...if we split up, she'd still be entitled to half my stuff.

Can't have your cake and eat it.

Re: Passport Delays

No, I wouldn't lie on a passport app, but bear in mind it's been over 12 weeks since I filled the bloody form out and sent it...I've been to sleep since then!

Re: Passport Delays

I have an email...I have the document (declaration), and it requires a marriage certificate if she is still married.

Re: Passport Delays

...OK...so she fills in the declaration...how exactly does that change anything?

Are they going to go "Ohhh nooo, your daughter can't have a passport because the mother is still married to so and...

Re: Passport Delays

I'm not angry - I'm thinking how insanely hilarious this is.

I've not laughed so much in ages.

Nobody yet has come up with a single sensible reason why a marriage certificate is relevant in...

Re: Passport Delays

The passport office didn't know she was married either - they just knew she wasn't married to me - so that rather negates what you're saying. No presumption of that sort could be made from the...

Re: Passport Delays

And again - why does it matter?

She could be married to Donald Trump for all anyone cares...I'm still the Dad and I provided the documents to prove it. Who she is married to is of no significance...

Re: Passport Delays

The way things are today, my daughter's lucky to HAVE a Mum AND a Dad!

So does that mean a single Mum can't get her kid a passport?

Re: Passport Delays

How about any service at all - let alone timely.

Not sure how this turned into a thing about Dean anyway.

The system's a mess, we have a overpriced "help-line" (the irony of that name hasn't...

Re: Passport Delays

Do you not see the irrelevence of this though?

They are asking for a marriage certificate from a failed relationship over 18 years ago.

My daughter isn't even 3 years old!

This...

Re: Passport Delays

I'm not really sure what more I can give them to prove she is my daughter, short of sending them a tub of something unsavoury in the mail .

I don't really think my partners marriage...

Re: Passport Delays

If that's what they want, then they should say so on the application form when I apply...not 12 weeks after they've stolen - yes stolen - my money.

I now have further time and expense to go...

Re: Passport Delays

So what, we now just blindly do everything the British Passport Office says?

Pretty sad look out for British democracy if that's the case.

My daughter doesn't really NEED this passport...she...

Re: Passport Delays

But she technically was...she's never divorced from her ex of 18 years!

I still say it's completely irrelevant though.

Re: Passport Delays

I don't doubt it actually...

I just think that all the paperwork they have - under any other circumstances - would be enough to issue a passport. If she had been born in the UK and had a UK birth...
