Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Cham128, INSEAD is a business school, MBAs and PhDs. Inta min Cham, shu hal ism?

It's very possible they'd open a Abu Dhabi campus, likely it would not be for the MBAs, but rather that PhDs doing...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Actually, I'm not a Brit... I'm a Lebanese who spent ages 15-25 in the US (yes, I have the Yank accent, sorry!) and the last year in London! INSEAD is my first choice!

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

As of right now, I'm basing it on INSEAD, ESADE and Oxford's Sa3id (for those of you who haven't learned this yet in Dubai, '3' is the 'throaty' Arabic vowel :-) ). They are 10-14 month programs. ...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I was thinking of it as a socializing spot and a good way to meet people in Dubai, but at that rate, I can go pick up dozens of the Russian girls discussed earlier in this thread... ha-ha!

I just...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

So it's probably something like £5,000/year membership for an individual I'm guessing... you still have to pay for dinner and drinks there, right? That price seems kinda high - maybe I'll skip...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Clearly people assumed that I was mentioning the Boxster as the epitomy of a sports car - in reality, I was mentioning it (I said Porsche Boxster or similar) so that there would be some idea of the...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Oh and to the guy who went racing through Bekaa... next time, you can make it even more "fun" by crossing the mountains from Bekaa to Beirut at Dahr Baidar at night, in fog. I did it 4 weeks ago,...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I think the Chavs make it into town for matches. Since arriving in the UK, I have become adept at recognizing them, based on the Urban Dictionary definition... (Search google "Urban Dictionary"...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I prefer a lounge type atmosphere as opposed to a club... Something not too loud, and not full of drunken people, I like a good drink, but I can't believe the way people here in London do it (I live...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Regarding whether or not I'd want to buy a sports car there because of the wild driving... I learned to drive in Beirut, Lebanon - I'm baptised by fire :-). We drive 70 MPH on highways...in the...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I live in London, but I'm not from here... I probably won't return when I eventually leave Dubai. Sell it off and return to Beirut (provided we manage to avoid a civil war).

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Well, I'll have to find someone willing to provide a $1M loan against future arms trades so I can get that Bugati.

Given the tenor of today's international arms market, I think the risk would be...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

No problem at all, I'll be looking into those Bugatti Veyrons more closely, maybe if I can switch trades a bit and get into international arms dealing... human traffiking, or blood diamonds.

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Border,

You bring up a good point - I understand that I'll be hit with all kinds of hidden fees and taxes after arrival - any idea what they'll cost per year and what some of them are?

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I'm not expecting to match my UK income, which would be about 40k Dhs per month as you said (taking into account that I pay an enormous level of tax in the UK, and won't pay any in Dubai). Further,...

Re: Expat package comparable to £120,000/yr

I'd prefer a convertible... is Dubai too hot for them in the summer? I like the SLKs, but a well equipped model is going to run £40k+. Why, what do you recommend for Dubai?
