Re: House, maybe :-)

Lovely to hear from you!

Mum used to work in a sweet shop called Nobletts but it's gone now, it was in the fairground (if that's still there - it was there 4 years ago) which was more or less as...

Re: House, maybe :-)

Spouse of Scouse, got on here to reply to a conversation we had last year but the thread had expired.

Got me all nostalgic, having done the immigration process the other way around!
Love the...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Well, I've advised the shippers and they have chosen to completely ignore me.
As it happens, I'm not really all that bothered about the damage now, enjoying our life in Oz and not wanting anything...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Goods arrived yesterday in a different container.

As I suspected, the original container was "de-hired" 4 days after it arrived in Oz.

Half way through unpacking the boxes and a little...

Re: Points to note when choosing a shipper

Fresh coat of paint is an understatement! We painted every room in the house and laid a new floor throughout in a week.

The house is less than 3 years old but an ex rental, a bit tired but got...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Thank you for that.

So pretty much not that exceptional for our shipment I suppose?

Hopefully, by tomorrow, we'll know if it's going to arrive Friday, I'll let you know. :fingerscrossed:

Re: Points to note when choosing a shipper

Thank you so much!

House isn't what we dreamed of all those years ago (no pool, small garden) but I guess it's a sensible option at our age. Both our daughters have lovely big houses with pools...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

We must have been unlucky then mate, both my daughters had their stuff delivered in big vans after seeing it packed into containers in the UK.

Both of them had been physically checked by customs...

Re: Points to note when choosing a shipper

Tracked the container all the way (even when it changed ship in Amsterdam), it went past WA to Sydney first then delivered our container on the way back.

Time wasn't of the essence as we assumed...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Thanks for that mate.

Not sure if the container is even still in Oz as I understand that it is emptied out asap to reduce rentals.

Certainly, no-one I know has actually had a container arrive...

Re: Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Thanks guys, possibly we are unlucky but four weeks have passed and then we are told that our stuff will be presented to quarantine and delivered to us, all in just five days after I asked what was...

Re: Points to note when choosing a shipper

Point of the post was not to name and shame but to give people some advice to ask the right question when making the choice. (Most people only ever do this once, if they do it more then it's usually...

Points to note when choosing a shipper

Learnt a lot this year having had several companies quote for moving our furniture from Lancashire to Oz.

Thought I would pass on our experiences to help others.

After committing to a...

Time for goods to clear customs in Australia

Not sure if we are being "messed about".

Our container arrived in Freemantle August 1st and the Agents of our shippers emailed us to say that we would have our stuff in 12 - 16 working days.

12...

Thank you for your kind words BUT

Be nice if it does go smooth because it hasn't done so far! :(

We agreed a date that gave the NHS doctors time to do a full diagnosis and provide a full set of...

Thanks everyone, read through the emails then read the one from our daughter without realising it was her at first (got quite emotional!)
Realised that we did indeed validate the visa when it was a...
