Re: Pinging without ponging...

I would soooo be investing in a very large woodshed that they could reverse said van into. The idea of having to hoik that lot every couple of weeks in the snow would be the source of much lively...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Why did you have wood dumped on your driveway? Was it a gift from your neighbours? What a fantastic way to get rid of teenage temper tantrums, chopping and stacking wood has multiple benefits. I...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Ahh I am guilty on both counts, which probably explains my natural affinity with wood stoves. I cannot believe that oil is cheaper to run over there, at one point last winter we were paying 70p per...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Ahhh, I think that the one that my father has, although I dont think it is attached to a back boiler, is one of the heat exchanger ones. I know that his whole house is toasty warm whenever he has it...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Are they different to the ones in the UK then, because everyone and his wife seem to be fitting them at the moment? I know they always have this huge slab that they sit on and they are all sealed up...

Re: A worrying year ahead...sorry, long rant

Is there no way that he could apply for jobs in Canada? If he has got to job hunt anyway might it be worth him giving it a shot? I dont know how that would affect your current visa application or if...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Believe it or not we have got one, a 16 seater for when we are taking the dogs/surf boards/kids friends out as well. It is not much better on fuel and you want to try reversing the bugger on the...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

I thought that Vancouver had the same weather as the Uk though? I was looking forwards to the thought of winters and summers without the rain.

My mums cousin was the mayor of Port Moody, I wish we...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

We are caught by the fact that we have to have an 8 seater and we live down some of Cornwall's more *ehem* rural roads so we need a 4x4 as well, thus catapulting us into the 'bend over and take it...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

I wish I had the option to heat with wood at the moment, we got absolutely spanked on our last oil delivery. The UK is quite green if you can afford the technology or are doing a new build, otherwise...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

I bet it sure makes the skyline look purty at night though.

Look on the bright side, at least they aren't sticking wind farms in everyones back gardens then adding £200 to your electric bill for...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

I am open minded at the moment, I have no preconceptions. I was looking at the eco/green thing from a slightly more business perspective to be honest - not that I want the children breathing in...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Define not cheap? Do you mean London prices or are we talking uncomfortable but not unreasonable?

I am thinking of semi retirement, maybe get some rental properties or just passive investments....

Re: Pinging without ponging...

That is less time than it takes my DD to get the train from Manchester to Cornwall, and looking at the latest rail hikes would probably be cheaper.

That is the sort of thing I am looking for work...

Re: Pinging without ponging...

Very true! I do tend to end up as the emotional security blanket for my family, but I am a soft arse when it comes to them all. It is a fine balance between potential guilt and simmering resentment...

Pinging without ponging...

I just wanted to air the turmoil that goes on in what used to be known as my mind.

In brief I am 43, I have a loving a very tolerant DH, 6 kids aged 23 down to 8, 5 huge dogs and I own a business...
