Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

What is unfortunate is that some people saw fit to attack others for no justified reason, to add nothing constructive to the debate but to pounce on every post with hostility. That some posters would...

Re: Pronunciation difficulties

I googled. Damn you.

I did meet a greyhound called Bones once, I thought that was quite good.

Re: Pronunciation difficulties

You're right, I don't think I say Shit in an overtly foreign way. That would be a winner if only the dog wasn't so nice.

I think I'll just pretend to be deaf.

Re: Pronunciation difficulties

Dave seems fine until I hear it in my own voice. De-ave. Then the alarms bells start ringing. I'd have to say "Like short for David". That's no better than "Like short for Robert".

This isn't...

Re: Pronunciation difficulties

I'm not sure I can pull off that sentence with a straight face.

I'm thinking of going with Hank. That seems safe, but then you just never know. I thought Robert was reasonable.

Re: Pronunciation difficulties

My dog is called Bobby. When people ask, and I say it, I get a blank look more often than not. When I say "Like short for Robert", some people remain blank, some people say "Oh, Baaawwwbby".

I...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

I'll always stand up for myself, it seems you don't like that!

If by pot & kettle you believe that I am bullying you, perhaps because I thought Vancouver was crap, then I apologise.

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

I truely do not understand your problem. I'll make no pretence about it, I find you to be rather bullying. Why are you still blithering on? Do you not like it when people respond to you or do you...

Ignoring the initial unecessary sentence...

Thank you for answering. It would seem, then, that the extra time and expense is not a factor worth considering for you.

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Your impression is incorrect, but I accept your right to have it. I don't know how you come to the conclusion of "defensive", I thought it might be nice to hear some actual opinions from other...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Why not address the points you made above? You could just give your opinion, as I have given mine. I was genuinely interested to visit the place and gave, IMO, a balanced lay person's view based on...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Then here's another opinion for you, you come across as an insufferable bully and have been nothing short of rude and offensive in your postings. I appreciate that you are in good company in this...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Are you being hugely sarcastic or are you actually upset that I mentioned some things I did not like about Vancouver? That's a genuine question, I find it quite difficult these days to distinguish...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

I suppose it trundled at a general trundling speed. I think it was all the houses built into the hill. Kind of. And the proximity to water. In any case, it looked like a nice place to check out.

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Thanks for that. Glad to hear they are not ghettos, but then that was never the expectation.

Incidentally, we trundled past White Rock on the train. My immediate thought was "It looks like...

Please note my use of the words "for example". I threw it in there twice to avoid having to list every ethnicity under the sun and to fend off any petulant jibes that, by picking one colour of...
