Thanks for the comments. So if they are on Bridging visa A and have a full Medicare card does this differ to the Medicare rights I have as a Perm Resident ?

Currently on the bridging Visa awaiting approval, could be a long wait i know

Are bridging visas considered permanent ? Or is permanent once the full fledged 804...

My parents are now on the Bridging Visa awaiting approval for 804
They have both applied for and received their Seniors cards

This entitles them to a few things on concession.

If you don't meet the criteria then you have no alternative.
But if you do meet the criteria then you have the option to choose


Seems a bit rough, lower income assurers will...

Its only $7K if you meet the criteria.
You just need to be able to demonstrate that you have the annual income to meet the requirement

Playing around with some of the optional answers it could vary anything from $117K to $183K

Quickly resurrecting this as I have a further question.
If they are to apply for an 804 Visa on arrival later this year they are required to arrive with a visa that does not have a "No further stay"...

Looks like their routine medication ( bit of arthritis, associated with normal aging ) would be covered by the reciprocal agreement.

Are you certain about the reciprocal healthcare bit ?
We came over on a 457 initially and our reciprocal card covered regular GP visits.
What about bulkbilled doctors ?

I will check what is covered on Reciprocal Healthcare as this could be an issue.


As both parents have private and State UK pensions, Aussie pensions should not be an issue ...
