Just to add to what Testarossa said (which is all good), if you decide to register your UK car here (which I did a while back), it will set you back somewhere in the region of 750 to 1000 euros....

In my experience:

Food = cheaper
Clothes = cheaper
Petrol = cheaper

And so on. But not by a massive amount. The Euro has equalised things by quite a lot, but it's still a lot cheaper living...
