A primary residence (your main home) is not subject to capital gains in either the US or UK.

If the money came from selling a primary residence then it wouldn't be taxable in either the US or UK.

I am presuming there is no tax payable just for bringing money in to the country?

I didn't realise that. I'll try and think things through a bit more before posting on here.

I know that if you are non-UK resident you are not liable for UK tax on interest on UK bank accounts.

Thanks for this information. I thought it was strange that my case number was not recognised by the system but I guess from your reply that this is not unusual.

A little more patience just about sums it up!

Admittedly the only reason I started looking into it is because I happened to look at the processing times and they are shrinking rapidly for this...

There is no problem keeping a UK bank account and there is the advantage of not having to pay tax on the interest.

My online UK bank account is actually easier to maintain and keep in touch with...

Case Status Problem

I am waiting for my I-751 to be processed by NSC.

I submitted the paperwork on March 09, 2005 and according to the latest processing time information my case should have been processed by now.
