Oh i'm sorry, I should have said, I never had a US licence. I just had a UK one, which I converted from paper to photocard.

petitefrancaise - I didn't have any of that in my offer letter unfortunately (& very naively didn't think i'd need it!) anyway, you learn from it and move on!

Just so i'm sure i've understood... If I finish up with my US employer say end Feb and start first week March under a new contract with my UK based employer, I can switch to a B-2 visitor status...

I have HSBC (premier) accounts open already in both the UK and the US, does that make a difference. I'm assuming there is no legal reason not to have them open in the US??

Banking is archaic, I would recommend having a US HSBC account if you banked with them in the UK. Means you'll not have same issues with credit. I came here and had a credit card (essential here!)...
