Re: Trackitt - timeline tracking....

Hi bazzz,
Most other people are on Skilled Worker visas which have less restrictions but take a hell of a lot longer!
You appear to have got a work permit first which does massively speed up the...

Re: Pre-existing Medical Conditions

At an emigration show a few years ago (2004 or 2005 I think) in a Q&A session with CHC reps, they were asked about medical conditions that would preclude an applicant and the woman from CHC stated...

Re: Federal or Quebec immigration?

Are you sure about the having to know French?

I say that because I thought that either official language was admissible even in Quebec.

I, in theory could have emigrated to BC if I was just...

Re: visiting but not activating visa

If you let your visa lapse, you have to apply all over again to get another one and there are no guarantees. Also all members of the family on the application have to activate their visa's with the...

Re: Credit rating

I recently took out a lease on a new car 2 weeks after "landing". It wasn't too difficult but I did have to put a sizeable deposit down. I've been told separately by my bank manager in Canada and a...

Re: PR Cards and removals

Hey, I got a 4WD Honda CRV too and it made a lot better job of the conditions than some of those monster pick up trucks, I saw one in a ditch as I drove serenely by without even a whiff of a wheel...

Re: Bowen Island

My kids love BICS. And the UK schooling starts a year earlier than Canada, so our kids had effectively a years cushion, if you like.

As for hospitals I'm pretty sure North Shore does. I think...

Re: Another landing tale - Vancouver

Plumped for lease on a brand new Honda CRV 4WD - the '08 model so I'm informed by the several positive comments I've had about it.

Anyway, it paid off. A foot of snow and the car coped...

The terrain is quite rugged but there are main roads. You can live a "civilised" life here although, unless...

Re: Really confused - having brain fart - help please!

Hey Mrs Miggins,
Hope you've calmed down now! Look what happened to the poor Polish guy when he let his frustration get the better of him at Vancouver airport!
But I know how you feel when you...

Re: PR Cards and removals

Hey, Simon & Laura,
Glad to see you settled in well.
You beat us by 5 days! Not that I'm competitive or anything.

Our kids love their school too. They have a forest to play in at Recess!

We...

Re: points going up from 67 soon-really??

And as a slight aside, now I have a Canadian address on my monster.ca resume, I've been getting a small but steady stream...

Re: points going up from 67 soon-really??

I got caught by this exact situation in 2002 and they did apply retrospectively back 6 months. Apparently I missed out on the cut off date by about 12 days :curse:.

Maybe the fallout from that is...
