A Construction Electrician? In Canada, they cover domestic, commercial and industrial, you cannot just be domestic.

We are happy with $8k relocation, she will reside in a nice b&b ($1100 pm) until our house sells and I move.

Then it'll be UHaul to get our stuff across as cheap as possible!

Although Smelting in Canada is in decline. Canada now prefers to sell the raw sludge to the Chinese to smelt.
I personally think it is a shame as you are not adding value to the raw material.
