Want to delete the others with me? I'll delete mine too. I hate to have confusing stuff out there. This is confusing enough!

Re: British Citizenship by Discretion (CBR post 1982)

Ahh...BritinParis would be the person who I would trust. Good luck to you. Hopefully someone can help you get the verbiage of your claim squared away. It sounds like you need your justification to be...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

We still have over 6 months. MN1 completed last night and biometrics is scheduled for Monday. It will be -13 degrees C here on Monday, so why not drag three teenagers into the middle of Boston? Fun...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

FINALLY got the right certificate. 577 days total from original application.

Now I get to send it right back to the UK for a passport. Haha.

Re: Claim under 4L - necessary documentation?

Give The Hone Office as much as you can. I would try to find the marriage certificate. I know it's a bit tough since they aren't indexed on the GRO.

Some parish records are indexed online and on...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

USPS has now entered the chat. 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

My package is now taking a tour around the northeast, presumably due to the winter storm backlog. Hopefully it gets delivered this week.

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Well, there's always three MN1 applications plus a future spouse visa for them to royally mess up! 🤣

Re: Section 4L approved now need to sort out my sons via MN1: Section 3 (1)

You need to wait until after your ceremony to start his application with MN1. Things happen (see my other post about The Home Office's mistake with my certificate), and there's no need to risk the...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Well, here we are over a year since I received my approval. This morning, I received an email from Royal Post saying a package has entered the US. So, crossing fingers this is my corrected...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Back with frustration…this still has not been handled.

I emailed Nationality Enquiries last week and this week finally got a response. Apparently the Home Office didn’t know why I was sending...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Finally have an update...glacial pace was shockingly correct!

The Consulate has now provided a different form to return the certificate to the Citizenship Ceremonies Support Team. I'll be sending...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Unfortunately no. I have received no response other than from the consulate, who has said they will initiate an inquiry on their end as well.

I’m not sure if I should just go ahead and send in...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

Thanks BritInParis. When I saw the certificate, I honestly thought to myself, “I need to ask Brit.” You are such a wonderful help to all of us.

Yes, I applied with ARD under 4L with...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

They offered to keep my certificate but suggested I take it with me, apply for my passport, and then inquire.

Maybe I should have left it. If I don’t get a response from the home office in a...

Re: Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

I am so disappointed. I honestly didn’t get to enjoy my ceremony after I saw the certificate.

I don’t know why or what went wrong. I just know I can’t apply for my children’s registration...

Applied under 4L and got naturalization?

I applied under 4L (straightforward British grandmother/gender discrimination). I attended my ceremony today and received a “Certificate of Naturalization” instead of a “Certificate of...

Re: Section 4L Application

Maybe we will get to meet up at the Embassy after all. 🤷‍♀️

I have a vacation planned at the end of April, and I’m really hoping it doesn’t conflict because it’s not something I can...

Re: Section 4L Application

I was told it takes forever because they won’t send a ceremony invite until the certificate is in hand, and the certificates come via diplomatic bag, not by post or electronically.

I was also...

Re: Section 4L Application

I live in New England, so I’m assuming my ceremony will be at the consulate in Boston. But, who knows?
