A small but still a benefit is it helps to get on to government gateway website as it’s a valid proof of ID and can help prove who you are.

I received recent advise as I had something similar.

you have an allowance of $250k and if jointly owned eg with your partner becomes $500k.

the exchange rate at date of purchase is used.

I am looking to transfer some money from my bank account in the UK to the US.

I could use my bank but as it’s a largish sum I’d prefer to get the best rate possible.

so I bought the house in 2009, let out in November last year, we moved to US in Aug 21. We will sell the house before August 24 to keep in line with Glasgowgirl 2 out of 5...

what date do you mean be originated? The date I took the original mortgage, latest 5 year (current) mortgage or date I emigrated?

It was our main residence so I’ve got until Aug 2024 to off load the house which I plan to do. It’s worth a fair bit but I believe the x-rate should improve,...

it was a pain but with a uk passport, uk drivers license and NI # I would hope you can get it setup. But I’ve not read the whole thread.

to work out how many years you have to pay you’ll need gateway access or have your UK...

We moved over here 15 months ago and just got our GCs.

we’re renting a house waiting for values to go down, credit score to go up and obviously watch interest rates do their thing....

If you lose your job linked to L1A you can use your EAD for another job but your original employer can revoke 140, and if it’s less than 180 since filing 485 you’ll be out of status.

I took the advice of the company’s immigration lawyer after submitting AOS/PR and didn’t leave. He made it clear. What’s the point of applying for AP if you can freely travel on an L1A?

On the subject of ISAs, once paying US taxes I was highly advised by both US and UK tax accountants to exit them. They’re not viewed favorably and for some reason tracker funds too.

you can leave the US with a L1A but you cannot leave the US with an adjustment of status for GC ongoing, you will void the process and have to repeat.

No, with a L1A visa you’ve already satisfied the PERM status that is required with most other visas so no need for employer to post your position publicly 😁.

I’d ask them to file 140/485...

Did the same thing: l1a then employer filed for a GC upon arriving

lawyer did file 140 & 485 at the same time 485 isn't considered until the 140 is approved. Filed mine in Nov last year, ...
