If it makes you feel any better about this, i have tracked every single purchase i have made since graduating, in a huge spreadsheet that i keep track of to make sure i am on target for my savings...

In case it maybe useful for anyone; I have found that you can ignore the tuition fees + the loan but you need to declare any grants used for non course essentials and things such as accommodation....

This looks handy, I have a month by month break down of my PAYE income, national insurance and income tax so i guess if i fill this information into form 4852 that should be as good as a W2 ?

I have an SS number, though because i was trying to catch up (using the streamline process) i need to file previous tax years, and taxact doesn't allow us. Out of interest did you get the stimulus...

Thank you, this was very insightful. While filing did you need to attach any documents to support things such as wages ?

I don't have any P60s to attach so i am not sure what to do. HMRC did...

I have had a look around and most of them asked for about 1200 - 1500 USD to get me up to speed. Which pretty much would eat up most of the stimulus payments :lol:

Good question, I am not sure either, I think they got it from my place of birth since i was born in the US, which prompted them to question. Though it did come out of the blue as i haven't changed...

Unfortunately i have hit that from saving up an emergency fund + a deposit, though the FBAR seems a lot easier to file than the 1040.
