Passport Renewal

Hi Folks!

Has anyone recently renewed their US passport whilst living in the UK? Would I be dealing with the FBU in London again?

Also, how was the overall process?

I feel your pain..... Took me from May '25 to Feb '26 just to get my banking details changed. :banghead: AND, had to do it in person at the US Embassy in London!

Once you have declared you are tax resident with HMRC, it's that date from which you'll start paying UK taxes. If that date, for you, was after July 2025, then no you don't pay UK taxes on those...

No, I did not..... in the email I received from the FBU stated it was not required. The form I presented did NOT have any bank employee signature completed and the person at the FBU didn't even bat...

Are you in the UK? If so, you will need SSA-1199-UK. The form you listed is for US banks. Then, you'll need to go to the US Embassy (after getting an appointment) in London as you will never be able...

I'm in the same situation..... cannot get through to them via telephone. If I have to make an in-person appointment just to change my bank details, it will cost me over £300 in train fares as I live...

Oh well.... that didn't work either! Insists that I have a US phone number. I tried the "recovery" method with the video call as verification and it still insisted on a US number to send the link...
