I'd be interested in the reply to this too, and can you literally sell your Canadian home then fly back to the UK the next day or do you need to carrying on living in Canada for a little longer.

We've lived in Ottawa for 4 years, having moved from York, UK.

It gets its reputation as its where the federal government workers are, but there is a lot going on if you look, lots of festivals...

Hi Lauren,

We moved to Ottawa in 2018 due to a job opportunity. One of the attractions was affordability of housing - its definitely a lot cheaper than in Toronto so you can get a lot better place...

Well we made it to Canada with our dog in tow on Wednesday so here’s an update with our experience.

We flew from Heathrow direct to Ottawa, with Air Canada. They never asked to see any...

Our dog is 3 years old so could have the vaccination but would a vet do that a few days before a flight and issue a fit to fly certificate?

Yes that’s what I read, so around $100 for inspections is a small price to pay compared to having our dog be shipped later by a private company.

That’s great thanks. We aren’t planning on using a kennel on arrival so sounds like we should be ok and then get him vaccinated in the first few weeks.

Well unfortunately we’ve missed the boat on the rabies vaccination as i understand it takes 3 weeks and multiple doses so wouldn’t be valid by this Wednesday. We have completed a form for Defra...

first time poster but long time reader on the forums. The day we move to Canada is nearly here. We fly next Wednesday to Ottawa.

However we we are having a last minute panic about taking our dog...
