If you can return in 6 months, you should be fine. Better open a bank account and apply for SSN card and have it mailed to you along with your green card.

If your case number is low then I'd suggest you...

Re: Drivers license and Green Card

You would most likely to go though the written and road tests again.
I had a valid Canadian driver's licence and I had to take both tests when I applied for Washington State DL.

Re: HELP!!! TN-1 for Canadian working in China

Re: HELP!!! TN-1 for Canadian working in China

For TN visa. you may be asked to prove your ties to Canada such as residency, recent utility bills, active bank accounts...etc.
It's best to get a spousal visa.

Re: immigrating Canada to USA

You need to obtain a letter from the car manufacturer stating that this car meets all US safety and EPA standards. Bring this letter to the customs and fill out other required forms at the border.

Re: DV-2005 Cutoff Numbers

No body has any idea. It moves 250 a month now. I'd guess it's very likely that it stops before 10,000 for Asia region.

Re: Next step after TN1?

It generally will take more than 6 years from green card to citizenship. So it's likely for you to wait more than 12 years to eventually become an USC.

New PR and tax

If a person becomes a PR of the US in 2005, does he need to file the tax refund for his non-US income in 2004? If yes, then des he have to pay tax on his non-US income before PR?
Thanks!

Thanks! Mr. Miller.

But would it jeopardize his Canadian PR status if he comes in a US plated car and with a US DL?

Canadian PR entering Canada

Can a Canadian landed PR visit Canada as American provided that he is also an American citizen? So that he can enter by driving a U.S. plated car.
