Default Canadian PR entering Canada

Can a Canadian landed PR visit Canada as American provided that he is also an American citizen? So that he can enter by driving a U.S. plated car.

Canadian PR always enters Canada with his/her national passport and proof of PR status. Being Canadian PR doesn't replace one's citizenship.

Canadian PR **residing in Canada** cannot drive foreign plated cars with their Canadian DL, except when importing and taking such the shortest way home before registering in Canada. Canadian PR residing in US, with US DL may drive US plated car as long as they are only visiting Canada.

Thanks! Mr. Miller.

But would it jeopardize his Canadian PR status if he comes in a US plated car and with a US DL?

No. You are not required to reside in Canada. You are allowed to. The term "Permanent Resident" is a bit confusing in that regard. But it is different from residency for tax, motor vehicle, or other purposes.

No. To keep your PR status you must be physically present in Canada for 730 days in every 5 years. As long as you can meet that simple obligation you'll be fine.
