Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

I stand corrected! Trademe confirms this, $700 seems top end of for a decent rental for a 4 bed.

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

Agree with this. 120k minimum and you'll be able to pay the rent, food and perhaps have a holiday once a year. If you're wanting to go back home and do extra travel and things regular you're going to...

Re: considering emigrating to NZ from the UK

Totally agree with this. You can't really compare or waste too much time really. Better to just make the most of the many decent things about NZ and take it for what it is and if it doesn't work out...

Re: considering emigrating to NZ from the UK

Have a read of this for my experience of NZ

I miss a few things from the UK- having a...

Re: considering emigrating to NZ from the UK

This will largely depend on your lifestyle and what you'd expect when you come to NZ. There have been some really good comments on here already but I'll add that if you if you come over here with not...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

You seem like a short sighted individual who lacks empathy. An immigrant with a working visa that stipulates a job role in a particular company is bound by terms and conditions. Industry worked in...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

Hi there,

I think as a few have eluded to the move to NZ and whether you find that balance or not will largely depend on a few things which will be different for everybody but some of those things...

Re: new zealand scenery

Interesting thread. I agree with the OP (yes I'm another 'moaning pom'). We've done decent amounts of travel in Europe but definitely didn't see enough of the UK before we moved to NZ nearly 2 years...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

That's great for you, you've found balance. Fact is most people out here haven't. Attitude has nothing to do with it, social and professional norms do - and what is dictated to you. In my industry we...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

hahaha typical comment. Your idea of balance is not the same as mine. For me and others who have young kids working "7 or 8 shifts in a row" for me would mean not seeing my little girl or wife for...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

I think most people see balance as perhaps less time away from work, less stress and more time doing what you want to do (be it hobbies, time with family or both).

I dug into this a bit with my...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

I'm with you totally on this, the balance thing you see on those TV shows and the UK's perception of the 'balanced lifestyle' is total and utter BS unless you come over with so much money you can get...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

100% agree, the family and friends thing is a universal problem in my opinion but the other things are subjective and I also agree that every single country you go to has some issue or another that...

Re: Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

I'm a Civil Engineer, office based. We actually bumped into an Irish Architect while holidaying at Christmas up north- he had exactly the same gripes as it happens. You may be surprised with the...

Our experience moving to NZ 18 months in

Hello All,

Thought I might add this post to give others some perspective from my point of view after living here in NZ now for exactly 18 months. This will probably stir the pot a bit but I’m...

Re: Some questions please

Oh that's good thinking. Did you have to use the panel dr for the repeat bloods. That would be utterly frustrating as I'd have to go to London

Re: Some questions please

Yes not ideal but seems like my medical is likely going to be a hold up anyway.

Also my employers accreditation is currently being renewed which could be another delay.

Seems like a piece of...

Re: Some questions please

Argh! Mine was 111, barely out of range did they request repeat bloods for your husband or did you just have them done again just incase?

Re: Some questions please

More delays! My medical has been referred (apparently this will be looked at by a MA within 10 days) and they want more proof that my wife and I are a stable couple (deapite us having already...
