Re: Uk to oz shipping container cost ATM

I'd also like to know who gave you the quote. Or any recommendations or at least a list of shipping companies?

Re: Retirement - standard of living

Thanks I've made a note of his details.

I presume you mean your workplace pensions are index-linked. We're unlikely to fully emigrate unless the frozen state pensions are sorted. It makes it...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

That's strange, I live in Bromley and am just a year older than you! Our daughter lives right in the city centre and we walk everywhere and get very fit especially as it's so hilly.

Yes Sydney...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

This was very interesting, mind you I find UK pensions complicated enough let alone navigating the Oz system.

Our daughter lives in Sydney and doesn't plan on leaving. That's where I lived for 8...

Re: Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

Good job there's helpful people on these forums. That's quite a bonus and both time and money saving.

Re: Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

Wonderful. I did read that the visa information brochure is out of date about certified copies but it didn't elaborate. Is there an update somewhere on their website?

Re: Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

That's amazing, I'd better get on with it before the processing times increase again! I'll follow your "unprofessional" timing advice.

I have another question. Do I have to certify my key...

Re: Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

Yes thank you Pollyana, that's a very clear explanation for a newbie.

The police checks are usually very quick so I guess that should be left until they ask for it. It’s not a real problem for...

Re: Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

Thank you, I'll phone the choice of two on Monday. Do you know how much notice you get to enter Australia once they grant the visa and is there any particular length of time you need to stay on that...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

Thank you for your reply and sorry for my slow reply.

The Australian government want the frozen pension situation dealt with after Brexit by "linking the uprating of UK pensioners living in...

Permanent Residency 309/100 - Medical

Hi

I'm applying for a partner visa offshore from the UK (husband of 35 years is an Australian Citizen). According to this forum my application might be processed quite quickly.

I'm very...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

This is interesting.

It's a surprise to me that you can't actually lose a UK pension, just have it frozen. Although it sounds as if the Australian Government might be able to sort that out as part...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

Surely it can't be worse than the UK who apparently get the worst state pensions in the western world. The only advantage is that it's not means tested.

I can imagine it would be very hard to...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

Thanks for the replies. Surely if you become eligible to claim the Aus age pension you have to renounce your UK state pension? I can't seem to find the existing pension requirements, what has...

Re: Retirement - standard of living

Sorry I should have said "means tested". I worked there for 7 years many years ago and husband for longer. I don't know whether that would still count and I could work another three years to become...

Retirement - standard of living

We're thinking of retiring to Oz. I'm applying for permanent residency, husband is Australian and children have citizenship by descent.

We will be purchasing a property in Sydney at a similar cost...

Re: RRV 155 Sub Class Visa (1 Year)

Thanks but still more questions as I can't find any detailed terms and conditions on the 157. The more I read the more confused.

I understand the three months is the maximum time that can be spent...

Re: RRV 155 Sub Class Visa (1 Year)

Thank you. So I shouldn't apply until we're in a position to go? How long can I stay and how often can I return to the UK given that Citizenship cannot be applied for until I've been resident for...

Re: RRV 155 Sub Class Visa (1 Year)

Thanks very much for your reply.

I must be stupid but I don't understand the point of a 3 month RRV. Does it mean we can spend a total of 3 months outside of Australia before needing another one....

Hi

Following advice from the DIBP I am submitting an application for an RRV 155.

My husband's a citizen from birth and our children have citizenship by descent. I had an Authority to Return...
