Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Oh how cute, you're retired and like to bully women half your age online to keep your days fulfilled. That's great. Enjoy this fantastic retirement of yours...it sounds AMAZING!:) x

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Wow. Well, you pushed me to it...if you and this other sad old man want to spend your lives on here, stalking people's threads to constantly harass and bully then I feel sorry for you. But that's...

Re: Guns in America

Well apparently they were very knowledgable on gun safety. They were all avid hunters. The older boy just had a moment of lapse in judgement as he rushed off to the bathroom and left the gun...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Still doesn't give people the right to be rude. Or maybe I just try to be a better/kinder person than that. Anyway, I'm kindly asking that people stop. Out of politeness they should...I would hope....

Re: Guns in America

Thank you so much for your reply! I've been called "paranoid" (amongst other things) on this topic in this forum when I know quite categorically I'm not at all paranoid. I am just aware of the...

Re: Guns in America

This is a brilliant comment! Because I would want to ask other parents the exact question. Personally, if my children were invited to yours and you said, "we do have guns and they're securely locked...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Thank you, that's really, really kind of you and lovely advice. To be honest, I try to always think of others before I think of myself. Which doesn't often leave room to do what I want. :)
Yes my...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Well I feel it's most necessary when you have the balls to criticise me as a parent! FYI I don't hover. I want my children to have the same upbringing I did - free to roam and have adventures. And...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Hello,
No they never see my concerns. If I have an issue with anything I consider it my issue, never theirs, so I'd never burden them with it.
Education wise I don't think we mind either way...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

All my other posts stated that my husband is American at some point. I don't need an attitude shift at all, but thank you. Why wouldn't you think I would make the move? I made the move to Texas 15...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Indeed - it's very easy for us to make the move and we can live anywhere where my husband's company is (which is in most countries), so long as it's an English speaking country as he's not fluent in...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Thank you for your totally unfounded insight on believing we won't move. Quite an unnecessary statement if I'm to be honest. And FWIW right back, we're "doing nothing" now as my last remaining...

Re: Australia - As good as it "looks?"

Sorry, I didn't think there was a limit to how many questions you could ask? And I didn't know there was a limit to how many places a grown adult may consider moving to if there's an opportunity?

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Hello. Thank you. What you said, "you move when your reasons for going outweigh your reasons for staying," is a really good thing to think about. I don't think any reasons to move will ever really...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Yes I never forget being in Washington DC when I was 14 with my mum and dad. We were visiting an elderly couple from West Virginia they'd met years ago whilst they were visiting the UK. We ended up...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Yes that is a good point:) Also, it's probably easy when you live in a very "safe" place, (or what's considered very safe anyway), to become complacent and let your guard down, leaving you more...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

Hello. We can't afford just to take a vacation there - it costs over $4,000 in flights alone for us as a family. It's not a case of "asking someone at the new office." His company actively encourage...

Re: Thoughts on Maine for a UK Family

No offence but please, if you're not from Maine or can't help then it would be nicer all round if you didn't reply. We are looking to uproot the whole family to another country and are considering a...
