Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

Yeah, there seem to be very few cases of MM2Hers violating the law. The only one case I remember seeing was an ethnic Chinese with a St. Kitts and Nevis passport (almost definitely bought - I don't...

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

I actually discussed a little bit with a person who claims to be a business visa consultant and was consulted on the new rules on the Malaysia subreddit. His argument was that failed business visa...

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

I am already in the program so I do know those requirements which is why the quote of RM 1,000 to RM 3,000 was so bizarre to me. I got into the program when I was still working but only moved here a...

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

Surely the Rm 1,000 to RM 3,000 must be a typo? If they mean RM 10k to RM 30k, then I wonder how that would not be benefitting the economy.

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

I think the whole thing started with Mahathir slamming Forest City and bringing up MM2H in this regard even implying that MM2H leads to PR and citizenship. Somehow, MM2H became the whipping boy for...

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

The offshore income requirement of RM 40k is a real killer! I think the other requirement changes are bad but still manageable for middle/upper middle class foreigners but a consistent offshore...

Re: Can i live on this salary in Kuala Lumpur?

A lot depends on the area that you live in. I pay RM 2k for a 3 br fully furnished apartment (old furniture and non-renovated apartment though) right next to the train station with a 10 minute ride...

Re: Hotel/Tourist Tax

I couldn't escape the tourist tax at the Four Points in Penang last weekend despite a fair amount of conversation with the manager. Hopefully, I will have better luck next time.

Re: Penang regular meetups for mm2hers and newbies

I suppose it was a bit unrealistic to meet people so close to Christmas but thanks for the responses! Hopefully we can meet up next time.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

Re: Penang regular meetups for mm2hers and newbies

I am making a very short weekend trip to Penang to take advantage of the SPG category 1 status of the Four points at Tanjong Tokong.

I would be happy to meet up with anyone who is free and...

Re: No religion not allowed?

Also, I must wonder what they would make of a religion based on the philosophy of this comic strip https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/2010-05-22 .

Re: No religion not allowed?

How about stating that you are a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster That should qualify as a religion. :)

Re: "40% of MM2H participants prefer to settle down in Johor"

Yes, I know dividends are taxed but depending on how you do it, you can convert some of them to capital gains (like investing in S&P futures instead of an ETF) and you then don't have to pay tax on...

Re: "40% of MM2H participants prefer to settle down in Johor"

I still don't understand why the rich Chinese who want to get their money out don't just direct it to the US stock or bond market - extremely easy to get going, tax free gains for foreigners, highly...

Re: Stopped in customs

Please excuse the terrible English in the above post. It is not a good idea to try and type a comment on the phone with one hand and while on a train. :)

Re: Article on KL property prices

I also just noticed the rents are going down in my condo and the one next to it as well. There should be little reason for property prices in KL to be high since the population density is so low and...
