Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, we had an absolutely fantastic time! But in four weeks & with only ten days travelling round, we barely scratched the surface of what Zimbabwe has to offer the...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Basically drove around with a tent in case anywhere we hoped to stay was busy. We did not visit Coronation Park but would do next time because good food & high speed wi-fi is now available at the...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Just a quick update on costs. I expected day-to-day costs in Zimbabwe to be about a 5th of that in the UK. This is the case but only when eating at cheap local restaurants & camping or self-catering....

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

it's a common theme, Zimbabweans are too relaxed for revolution. The Bush War kinda put paid to that theme I thought...

I see Mugabe as the single biggest impediment to the country's recovery, as...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Thanks folks.

I'm back. Spent a month in Zimbabwe, about 20 days in Harare & 10 driving round the country. There are many changes since my last visit in the late 90's. Harare's CBD caters to the...

Question Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Hi Mandy,

Thanks so much for a considered reply. You are the winner.

I would love an update from your friend with business plans for Zim...

Re: Mugabe's latest poisonous rant.

Hindsight is always 20/20, I agree.

Basically, if I had been involved in policy making during the years when the war was hotting up I'd have encouraged much more engagement & investment in the...

Re: Mugabe's latest poisonous rant.

Ian Smith was too thick to be PM. I have no idea how he conned the people of Rhodesia into UDI if they weren't as thick & xenophobic as he was!

I've studied & read a lot about the war. I reckon...

Re: How difficult is SA... really?

I admire anyone willing to make such a bold move. Without meaning to pour doubt on anyone's first-hand experience, I for one suspect the dangers could be exaggerated.

I had lots of warnings about...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

I'm not certain that everything's fine in Zim, I'm quite certain in fact that there are problems. But I've got problems here, I think I made it quite clear, & I'm still quite able to discuss &...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Other than what's written in this thread & perhaps one or two others I have not done the slightest bit of research on other posters in this forum. I'm researching Zimbabwe as a destination for...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Not if it contains chicken wings. Chickens clearly have no use whatsoever for them & I've always wondered how long it'll be before they evolve to shed them, like African house lizards drop their...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

For anyone interested in an alternative to the stale anti-Mugabe/anti-Zimbabwe narrative, you could do worse than to read "Zimbabwe - Challenging Stereotypes" by Robert Mshengu Kavanagh. I am not...

They have "Good Old Days Syndrome", also known as "GODS"?

Although missing a question mark & clearly of limited value to the purpose of this thread, this looks like a question. I might reply...

Re: from Zimbabawe, to Zimbabwe...

Thanks!

This thread is for anyone on the ground in Zimbabwe who has something positive to say about the country. I don't care if they're old or young, black or white, rich or poor, I don't care if they're a...

Let's talks about Zimbabwe positively if we can..!

I accept that there are going to be some downsides to any permanent move to Zimbabwe but I grew up in Rhodesia & I don't have any rose tinted...
