My accountant advised me to declare PB winnings to the Canadian Revenue Authority.

I held ISAs in the UK but there were no tax advantages so I sold them.

Don’t know about the junior version...

This required me to
Register for an IRCC acoount.
Link my application
Download an Authenticator app. ( never heard of this before)
Scan a QR code...

Hi,
I have just completed a PR renewal online, it says successfully!

Should I receive a confirmation email for this? I feel uncertain that I have it all right. I found it quite laborious.

Like you my tax is complex. I find MNP a reliable tax accountant; expensive but that may not be a concern right now! They have offices in BC and Alberta.

This rule is vey recent, and apparently it applies in other countries. Like your mum, I declared everything to the CRA. I guess control of money laundering is involved.

Thanks for your advice. I did have some funds in IOM, the problem is that the Canadian bank (or Government) required that all investments be managed in Canada. So I am about to move every everything...

Sorry, I did not take any further action with GTN. I decided to liquidate the UK funds and transfer them all to Canada.

It seems to be the latter ie the management of the assets must be in Canada. The investments are already taxed in Canada.

You did not need to provide a source 10 years ago when I transferred my house proceeds. This was done via Wise. The British banks put a limit on the amount transferred. Otherwise hassle-free!
