The trip went well, cost £300 in tax arrival in Spain. Dropped off the stuff for the house, back to the UK few days later, customs were really interested in an empty van :)

you were spot on, It would appear I can obtain citizenship relatively easily through marriage, the clearest advice I,ve found is available at eportugal.gov.pt
