Actually, I just came across something called automatic revalidation and it seems that holders of certain visa categories who are in valid status can travel short-term to certain countries, incl the...

Re: Going to the Bahamas with expired J-2 and renewed DS-2019

Hi All,

My immigration status is such that I'm on my 2nd (valid) DS-2019. I have not had a chance to leave the country and get a new J-2 visa issued since the expiry of the initial visa stamp at...

Re: Is a leave of absence allowed with an expired EAD?

Thanks Rene for the reply. Last time I called USICS after 75 days of pending application, I got my approval within 12 days. It may be a coincidence, but USCIS advises applicants to notify the service...

Is a leave of absence allowed with an expired EAD?

I'm a J-2 visa holder currently awaiting my EAD renewal. I held my initial EAD for just over 2 months due to the expiry date of the DS-2019 that EAD was tied to.

My employer has placed me on an...

Re: B-2 to J2 status change: yay or nay?

You're right... Although I'm eager to reduce the 6-month+ career limbo that's probably ahead of me as the result of not being able to work in the US until J2 and hopefully EAD, but you're right that...

Re: B-2 to J2 status change: yay or nay?

So if I understand correctly, once I put my J2 application through and am still on the B2, I will need to remain in the US until I get the J2. If I leave before I get the J2 (for example, to go to...

Re: B-2 to J2 status change: yay or nay?

Yes, we lived together for three years and have a lot to prove it. We have made our wedding plans and we're marrying in Italy in June. How long would it take to get J2 if we decided to marry in the...

Re: B-2 to J2 status change: yay or nay?

Sorry, I realise it's confusing, looking for how to edit post. To clarify: my fiancé is on the J1 since 4 weeks ago. I wish to join him before I apply for J2 after wedding in June. Debating whether...
