So first visit on Monday - arrived and it was minus 6 and snowing - not likely to be much cycling! Thanks for the input, I've had some good advice on places to live from various people.

I'm going to be based at Elk Grove Village, I was thinking more of Palatine or Arlington Heights, we want access to the countryside but with a community nearby - we're big...

My mother is american, so despite being born and raised in Aberdeen, I have American passport, citizenship, SSN and so on. Alongside my British citizenship as well.
