Thank you all for your replies.
I was not aware of any returning resident visa till the CBP officer told me.
I had to make sure if I can resume my residency in the US before I turn my life here...

my absence is already more than two years, and I am not on any reentry permit. It seems that they have every right to say that I abandoned my status.
I am just trying to know if it is worth to try....

I have read, tried to read, Matter of Kane. it seems to me that her appeal to keep her status is denied. am I right? this "law" language is hard to understand for me.
