Talking Re: JPJ: Driving License and Vehicle Registration as foreigner in Malaysia

Thanks interesting - I never heard of that - it would be nice to have an ID number that never changes - like an IC for example !

Re: MDAC required for foreign visitors from 01 Dec 2023

I am told that those on LTSVP (Spouse Visa) do not need to fill the MDAC but I have yet to test this out! Not sure when I am next leaving and returning to Malaysia.

I recently needed to update my passport number on my vehicle registration document as the old passport had expired and in order to trade in the vehicle I was told the "Pink Slip" document needed to...

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

If you're not already in it then the Facebook group "Foreign Spouses of Malaysian Citizens" can be quite useful to keep informed about relevant info/issues facing us all :-)

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

That's interesting Fi30 - I didn't have to provide anything like that for my company HSBC account. However, I did have a contract with my client that detailed some roles/responsibilities but it was...

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

OK that's awkward - I might move to Sarawak one day as my wife is from there. But by that time I hope I won't need to work anymore!

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

This is interesting - I wonder if you could simply set up the Sdn Bhd in West Malaysia but work for the company while based in Sarawak?

You could appoint a company secretary in West Malaysia to...

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

I think my consultancy falls under the (b) section on that page - services tax. They don't mention the threshold there but I think it is lower than the 500K for sales tax.

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

I don't think there is any restriction on sector - mine is in IT consulting - apparently this is eligible for SST if the annual revenue for consulting services exceeds a certain figure - but I'm not...

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

In our case we didn't have the high paid up capital requirement because we don't need to apply for any Employment Passes (EP). Working under LTSVP is different (and cheaper) than doing so under an...

Re: Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

Talent Pass is only available to those who are currently on an EP (my friend works at Talent Corp and I checked with her).

As I'd been on the LTSVP for many years I was not eligible for RP-T. I...

Setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under LTSVP/Spouse Visa

I was asked in a Facebook group to share about the experience of setting up a company in Malaysia in order to work under the LTSVP. I thought the information might be useful to some folks on here too...

Re: Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP or LTVP)

Can't believe it was more than five years ago that I posted here. A little update - when I renewed my LTSVP middle of last year they now only gave me three years and said this is the most they offer...

Re: Guidlines on property owned by foreigners

Agree with what hans8 said, there is a huge over supply of property in KL but the government continues to approve new development that don't even meet their own guidelines. It's quite ridicuous. I...

Re: Wire Money From UK to Malaysia

I had a similar experience not long ago. I did not transfer all of it to Malaysia but a portion of it I did. I set up a GBP account in HSBC as I heard they offered better rates for Premier Banking...

Re: Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP or LTVP)

Well I did get 5 years but there was a bit of a cock up on my 'employment status' so in total I spent more than 5 hours at the Immigration Office... good that I don't have to do this again for a...

Re: Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP or LTVP)

I just renewed my LTSVP. I was originally given two years and then had it endorsed to show that I am allowed to work in Malaysia.

The renewal was fairly easy and I've applied for 5 years but not...
