Thanks for the info guys, yes I spotted quite a lot of highly charged threads here and elsewhere, seem to be a big issue with expats. I can understand the risk element and the possible need to hike...

I've been investigating the car insurance situation while myself and my wife are out of the UK. We will make occasional trips back to the UK to see family and friends etc, and want to keep out car...

not rules, more hoops to jumper through to get certificates authorised by the UK FO and Emirates embassy. Look on the UAE embassy website about legalisation.

Seems there are new rules for getting a residency permit for Emirates. Does anyone know hoe long it takes for the UAE embassy in London to approve qualification certificates etc etc.

I am leaving in 12th June for a fulltime permanent job and don't intend coming back anytime soon if that helps. So the 2016 date is fine and if backdating is possible after time that's great. Thanks...
