The Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala is really well run and they are very well looked after and free roaming with loads of space. They are taken for a bath twice a day and babies bottle fed...

This could have been my holiday ha- same apart from didn't do NE! Absolutely loved the elephants in Pinnawala and bathing them and feeding them. Also stayed at galle face hotel

Denghy or something it's called- which can be really harmful. I get bitten loads and have just been there 2 weeks in the jungle areas too and as long as you have repellent then u r all good

I totally agree with it happening just about anywhere but unfortunately it's hard to not think about it if travelling there again. Like I said before this incident happened on day 2 of a 2 week...

I would love to go to HK and wouldn't be put off with the Bangkok issue- I am very reluctant to travel to Thailand again tho which is pretty annoying as most places look stunning - just been put off...

Yeah they literally come out of nowhere. I appreciate as tourist we can probably be annoying and pissed up idiots but still no need for it when we are the ones actually spending money there!

Yeah we should have left straight after being asked to get off the car. Granted shouldn't have lent on it but doesn't warrant a beating in my opinion.

It's really nothing funny but quite serious- basically the 4 of us me being the only female were beat up with wooden bats! Was a great start to a holiday- black eyes and swollen faces- joy

I had a bad experience in Bangkok! Granted I was on the backpackers street but it's defo put me off Bangkok as a whole
