Re: Cheapest/easiest bulk £ to $ transfers

I have just transferred a relatively small amount of money as a test using Canadian Forex. The rate I got was $1.79 to the pound and I think they waived their fee for the first transaction - might be...

Thought I'd just update this thread in case anyone else searches in the future.

My PS3 - CECH-2003A - which says on the sticker that voltage is 240v does work in Canada so far without issue....

"Dollar"land equivalents

I was wondering around Vancouver today and down by the observation deck I happened upon a Dollarama which I can only describe as the Canadian equivalent of a Poundland in the UK. Although not...

Re: Renting in Vancouver right now - anecdotes

I'm about to start my search for permanent accommodation in Vancouver. It's just me and I have a budget of $2500 so I'm hopeful of finding something decent but it needs to be furnished.

I've...

Re: UK Playstation 3 - dual voltage?

Is that the old school monster sized one or the inbetween one that just says PS3 on top? (as in this one: http://static.trustedreviews.com/94/000026621/af36_orh350w620/ps3.gif)

You couldn't do me...

Re: UK Playstation 3 - dual voltage?

My gut says it's OK too and, like you, a google search got mixed results. So if anyone HAS a PS3 and confirm this, that would be lovely.

I guess I'll have to go out an inspect the city until I...

Just landed in Vancouver and have to get my priorities straight.

I brought my UK PS3 (2nd gen one, not the super slim one) 120gb over after reading that they are dual voltage on this very forum. ...

Re: Do I need to bring my Birth Certificate?

Sorry, mistyped the most important thing! 1 to 2 years. My work permit has already been sorted. I was just wondering about maybe needing it in general for anything else?

Re: Banking confusion

Sorry for hijacking the thread a little bit but would it be worth opening a HSBC account in Canada if I already bank with HSBC in the UK or is it not going to have any real benefit?

Re: Best Vancouver UBC areas to stay

@phat puddock

The 'rental cost' is a little irrelevant for me as this is being covered by the firm I work for. I have an allowance, I either use it or lose it. I will check out your search...

Re: Best Vancouver UBC areas to stay

What a coincidence. That's where my temp accommodation is for the first month :). The rate now is $150 a night so a little over budget. Also it's downtown and I would rather live out of the centre if...

Re: International Assignment. What should I expect from my employer?

@Dulciusexasperis Thanks for that. The top link I've not used before and that was useful. Unfortunately the bottom link (Lloyds one) doesn't seem to exist any more as a tool which is a shame.

I'm...

Re: International Assignment. What should I expect from my employer?

Re: International Assignment. What should I expect from my employer?
