I'm...

Re: Has anyone recently set up their own business in Italy

Get yourself a good/recommended commercialista (accountant) and speak to them early on, they could save you a lot of running around and money.

You cannot do without a Commercialista here in...

Re: Building & Contents Insurance ??

Try the UK company Intasure. Have a look on line but ring them for a quote as it will likely work out cheaper than an on line quote.
They specialise in holiday homes and I've heard are very good at...

Re: learning italian

For me, definitely going to a class, as you pick up a lot from the others in the class too, the questions they ask, the mistakes they make etc., etc.. Also it can be a bit of a laugh too, which makes...

Re: Help the new kid!

I would think about opening up an account at the Post Office. Cheaper than banks and there is a post office in every town, should you need to call in away from where your own branch is situated.
I...

Re: World Cup - Italy v England

England of course. Will be at the local bar. 2 years ago when the same fixture was played there was some great banter between a bar full of Italian's and about 6 English supporters.

All good...

Re: How to build a roof in Italy

Correct, the roofs I have been involved in from the North of Italy to Central Italy the regs and construction methods have been very different. Also don't think that putting a ring beam in is a quick...

Re: How to build a roof in Italy

I've not done it myself, but have worked on a few new roofs, under the guidance of an Italian surveyor/engineer.

All I would say, if you wake up in the night due to an earthquake would you feel...

Re: Le Marché or Abruzzo?

The reason I chose Abruzzo over Le Marche, is that I wanted to be near both the sea and the mountains. If my memory serves me correct it was really or in Le Marche.

I was even offered a...

Re: Service charge in restaurants

I too recently noticed this when on holiday in the North. However for me and my family a 10% 'add on' will quite often will work out cheaper than a €1.50/€2.00 coperto per person.
I found while...

Re: where to move with 2 children?

How about Central Italy, Le Marche, Abruzzo. Very peaceful, choice of living near the coast or near the mountains, or both. Not too far to Napoli.
Good area to bring up children too.

Re: Financial Advice...please

Thanks for the reply and the tip. I just wonder though, even if a money broker is used there will still be a paper trail. I don't plan to do anything underhand, just keep my hands on my money. :(
