Starting the CR-1 process all over again

Hello Everyone

I was a regular on Britishexpats roughly 3 years ago when I (USC) was applying for my wife when we lived in Italy. The advice and the experience I found here were invaluable and I...

Re: Is UK income OK for I-864?

Sorry for the long delay in replying - I was taking a much needed break after all the stress of the CR-1 process!!

In answer - we have cash in in banks. I reported it on the I-864 but the consul...

Re: Is UK income OK for I-864?

Re: Is UK income OK for I-864?

Hi Peppy 3

I just went through the process for my wife in Italy, where we now are living, and I had exactly the same doubt as you did.

I used my Italian income for the I-864, with evidence of...

Re: USC I-130 question: marriage license

Hi. For what it is worth I applied to get the marriage license by mail.

Re: DCF (I-130) Filed in Naples

Yes - Naples is the consular processing centre for Italy. It is odd, as it is far from being the socio-economic centre of Italy.

I can only guess it is a legacy of WWII and the American...

Re: Is a joint sponsor absolutely necessary for a marriage-based visa?

Thanks Rene - you are right. I say 'we' because in my mind we are a family! If all else fails I (the USC) will go first, but it is the last resort to leave the family behind.

Re: Is a joint sponsor absolutely necessary for a marriage-based visa?

Thanks a lot everyone - especially Rene. It is a real worry that there is such a big difference from consulate to consulate in the interpretation of "Domicile". In our case, the consul actually...

Re: Is a joint sponsor absolutely necessary for a marriage-based visa?

Thanks so much everyone. We will comfortably exceed 3x the minimum income in cash, so the house value isn't really needed. The key will be to convince the consular officer of 'Domicile', which is...
