Maybe you should look into how it works for Brits moving to the US. 5 years paying in before you are entitled to anything regarding Social Security. So it goes both ways

The only reason not to is because she doesn't want it. Likewise I have absolutely zero interest in obtaining US Citizenship. I understand it makes life easier but to me I have no interest in it

I should add that on the paperwork that gave us the reason for denial it basically stated that she hadn't provided enough proof that she really wanted to live in the UK. Not sure what kind of proof...
