I live in the South East (Suffolk) so I now understand the positioning of Canberra relating to the surrounding areas and house prices etc etc.

Would you recommend any other areas around Queanbeyan area maybe around a 30/40 min drive from the prison. Areas that have very low crime....lol

Nice one. So just to clarify. There is a possiblity I could work in Canberra as a correctional officer and live in NSW where the property is more affordable.

If I get states sponsorship in ACT I understand I have to work in ACT for 2 years. Do I also have to live in that state and if so is NSW part of ACT (I am guessing not.)

Yes I was somewhat out on the salary, It is between $51,611 rising to 61,934, if that makes a difference on the mortgage front.

I had an email from the correctional services the other day. They are recruting in April.

I have been researching house prices in and around Canberra and I don't think we could afford a 3 bed...
