Re: Tax on funds transfered after you move

Yes I agree that it would seem that Alan steered his ATO respondent to the answer he wanted. They can hardly dispute what is in a tax ruling and I guess Alan has researched them more than most ATO...

Re: Tax on funds transfered after you move

Has anyone actually paid tax on transferring gbp to $A?

I can’t think I would use Alan with his distorted view of this

I think I would use an accountant who supports the ATO view that no tax is...

Re: Warning HIFX charges

It seems that many others have been stung by HIFX without being aware. The marketing director may be concerned about things but the rest of the staff I have dealt with couldn't care less and have...

Re: Warning HIFX charges

I have given up trying to get redress from HIFX. The amount of time they have spent to avoid paying the charges which they should have paid is amazing.

More people should complain and loudly. I...

Warning HIFX charges

I recently made a number of transfers to Australia through HIFX. The transfers arrived less charges made during the process. My account was charged with the charges that HIFX are supposed to pay. ...

Re: Montfort Global Financial Planning

Just for information you cannot transfer a UK pension to Australia unless you are an Australian tax resident.

Also no one should ever even think of using Montfort.

Re: Tax on HIFX forward contract

Yes the contract was done earlier this year. So the fact that I bought A$ would mean that there would be no change in the value so no tax issue?

An interesting point though is that with a forward...

Tax on HIFX forward contract

From earlier posts I believe the following to be the case but would like to test with others with more experience of the Australian system.

I have forward bought $A with HIFX at 2.40. If when I...

Re: Are UK PEPs Subject to the FIF Rules?

This implies that peps/isas worth less than $50000 are not taxed. Is this correct? If so does this apply to cash isas as well as equity based isas?

Good luck

Re: Hidden Costs of Pension Transfers -do they exist?

I cannot accept all your alarmist figures obviously to scare people into consulting you.
Why does it cost 1% fund value to write a cheque? UK cheques are usually cashed in Oz with a small fixed...
