Re: Order of priorities

I'm in Topanga and know Calabasas very well. I see from your previous posts that you are looking at Bay Laurel and AC Stelle for your kids. I'd just pass along that A.E. Wright is also a good middle...

Re: Is it better to wait?

Neither of my friends who did EB1's in the past year were called for interview at all. Their cases were approved based on the evidence alone. Obviously they had to present for fingerprinting and...

Re: Is it better to wait?

I still say you should do it as an adjustment of status when you're inside the U.S. If that means filing later, fine. You'll have more evidence. Plus you can file concurrently for Advanced Parole for...

Re: EB1 arts specific requirements...I know, I'm sorry!!

Not sure why you think it's close to impossible. Another very good friend of mine got an EB1 as an author. (Funny how I seem to know a lot of "exceptional" people, innit?) He had written two books,...

Re: EB1 arts specific requirements...I know, I'm sorry!!

They're not going to go on stuff related to film. I assumed you were a film/tv actor as you indicated you were moving to L.A. which is not exactly a theatre hub.

If you represent yourself as a...

Re: EB1 arts specific requirements...I know, I'm sorry!!

Well, you said you and your theatre company have websites. I'd say you start by making sure the content there reflects extraordinarily on you. Excerpt the best bits of your reviews and profiles, link...

Re: EB1 arts specific requirements...I know, I'm sorry!!

1) I know of two people who checked the "organizations" box by being members of BAFTA and the Royal Society of Arts.

2) I know of one person who submitted an article in a trade paper, which was...

Re: Going from O1 to EB1 in the arts

She applied for advance parole to travel at the same time as her EB1 - that was approved yesterday, a couple days after the I-140!

She said the evidence was "comparable" to that required for the...

Re: Going from O1 to EB1 in the arts

I have a close friend who is doing this very thing - going from an 01 obtained via the London embassy in 2008 to self-sponsoring an EB1 inside the U.S. She filed through Texas Service Center Oct...

Re: Issues/Questions about return home...

I'd go with the big car/house and unbridled capitalism every time.

Re: Sponsoring parents

You can call it what you want. I was a Glaswegian before I was a Californian. I know crippling pessimism when I see it.

Re: Sponsoring parents

And I must've missed the encouragement of illegal stuff.

I will observe that this site IMO tends to be a purveyor of doom-and-gloom, woe-is-me, pursed-lipped, can't-do attitude towards U.S....

Re: Sponsoring parents

Highly doubt that - it would take a proceeding in federal court to strip her of her citizenship. And somehow I feel sure Uncle Sam has better things to do with his time and $$$ these days! Maybe if...

Seeing as you ask, I got them private insurance (just as well, as dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2003 and passed away in 2007). Mum now has Medicare, which I continue to supplement with...

Re: Sponsoring parents

Sure, maybe they did preplan it. In which case, the plan worked out great.

(My personal experience of navigating US immigration: it was a cakewalk. They practically rolled out the red carpet....

Re: Sponsoring parents

True, it wasn't preplanned. But they still filed for AOS within (if memory serves) 3 months of entering as tourists. The question of intent was never raised, although I suppose it could have been.

Re: Sponsoring parents

My parents used to come out to Palm Desert for the winter pretty much every year. One trip they said "We're retired, the grandkids are here - why are we going back to Glasgow in February?". So I...

Re: How long before the UK turns Muslim?

So do you suppose all those Pakistani and Arab-looking young guys who are in the video calling the police "cowards" and "kuffars" and screaming "allahu akhbar" are in fact BNP activists cammed up?

Re: How long before the UK turns Muslim?

Because a language is a means of communication, not a value-system.

I can learn another language, but I can't (maybe that should be won't) adopt an value system that is alien to Western liberalism.
