Thanks for that, Our house wasn't originally built of stone it was timber and wattle and daub (if thats how its spelt!). I have looked on the Cadastre and the plots of land are shown but no dates of...

I am trying to find out when my old French farmhouse was built and whether there are any photographs in existence. I have the Deeds but this just lists the occupiers by their date of birth and death...

Thats great and very helpful thank you. Luckily my car insurance is November and MOT October so thats a worry I won't have!

Thanks for your replies. My house is in Linzeux - about 30 minutes from Arras, Nord pas de Calais.

I'll have an internet search for UK Holiday home insurance although would need more than 60 days...
