Re: High Interest Savings Account Opened in UK

Barclays are chumps, I remember you mentioning that they were going to pull the plug and I couldn't believe it. This is the first time across many continents that I have seen a bank ditch a customer...

Re: TIE - Passport Checks

Smith, I see your point, and TOURISTS from the UK should join the (sometimes long) immigration queue along with passengers who have just landed from South America or Morocco. No longer in the EU?...

Re: TIE - Passport Checks

Seems like you haven't been to too many airports around the world to understand what others are discussing.

I lived in Singapore for several years and when going through immigration control you...

Re: Tax situation when you work in SG but live in JB

At source for sure but usually also at your place of residence, which in this case would be Malaysia. But the Digital Nomad visa might have its own rules that treat you differently from a tax...

Re: TIE - Passport Checks

That is the case at many airports, even when flying via Helsinki for instance (my current airport of choice as I always seem to have good connection times there) it's good to have someone with an EU...

Re: ACRO or DBS for residency application

True, without a job in Spain he would need to prove he has the financial means to support his wife when applying for the "Family member of an EU citizen" card. Add to that private medical insurance....

Re: TIE - Passport Checks

It's not really supposed to be stamped, but some people obviously haven't had the training and/or knowledge to know that so they just automatically stamp everyone.

Currently? Not getting a...

Re: ACRO or DBS for residency application

Any reason why you are not applying as a family member (in this case spouse) of an EU citizen? Only reason I can think of is that your husband isn't resident in Spain which would explain it.

Re: Tax situation when you work in SG but live in JB

I really don't know, but for starters HOW will you be working in Singapore? As in physically being there daily by commuting across to Woodlands or working online (from Johor) for a company based in...

Re: Working in Singapore

You can look on jobstreet.com.sg but it's very hard to find employment for someone that doesn't have the right to work in Singapore.

You basically need to find a company that wants to bring you to...

Re: Employment Pass expiring

First and foremost you need to have a prospective employer offer you a job contract, and then they (not you) arrange the S Pass (though of course they might use an agency for this).

The S Pass,...

Re: urgent help needed! 53 yr old Brit

I believe one Dependent Pass holder (for every EP holder) can apply for a Letter of Consent in order to work in Singapore, which would then allow you to seek employment and earn enough money to...

Re: Employment Pass expiring

Have you been offered a job in Singapore that doesn't qualify you for an EP but only for an S Pass? If the job offer is there and you have accepted it, then your employer will handle getting the S...

Re: GIBRALTAR 2024

Because Gib is trying to become part of the Schengen zone.

I never avoided your question. I stated that Spain should be in charge of border control and that's it. You can run every other aspect of...

Re: GIBRALTAR 2024

I agree entirely. The Gib government should have to pay 100%.

Re: Crackdown on speeding

I recently took a cab where the lady driver didn't have her seatbelt on and the car kept producing these annoying chimes as is the norm these days and yet she didn't care. I still wonder whether she...

Re: GIBRALTAR 2024

Being part of the Schengen zone makes everyone's lives a lot easier. But that zone is the gateway to 29 European nations and needs to be secure.

If Gib wants to be part of that area then anyone...

Re: GIBRALTAR 2024

Spain should have 100% control of the border, I can't believe there are any negotiations to be had on this issue.

You want to be in the Schengen area? Then the EU and in this case Spain should...

Never tried a pork pie (when I hear the word pork I crave for a whole rack of ribs... not a pie!) and not much of a biscuit (or sweet stuff in general) person either, but I am thinking of bringing...

Re: Spanish boarder issues with Gibraltar

No, not at all. Those silly surveys only look at how many countries you can enter for a short visit without needing a visa beforehand. The "winners" are those that give easy entry to those 2 or 3...

Re: Spanish boarder issues with Gibraltar

In all fairness aren't you the one complaining about (and most-affected by) the fact that the UK passport has suffered the biggest plunge in status ever?

I mean right now if you're entering Spain...

Re: Spanish boarder issues with Gibraltar

It seems that the stamps issue is something that is completely arbitrary as if there are no instructions from above as to how border guards are to proceed. And it's not just niche border crossings, I...
