I would recommend North Lakes/Mango Hill area. It's great for families, has a decent shopping centre, schools and day care. It also offers good access to the highway. The rail link to the city won't...

November's not so bad, I'd say December is the slowest month unless you're looking for casual retail work. January can be slow too since many companies close down for around 2 weeks from Christmas...
