Re: Long Term Let Websites Italy

Thanks! I've been "walking" around the area on Google StreetView and as you say there's so much variety and beauty around. Every weekend I can be somewhere different, the Euganei hills, the...

Re: Long Term Let Websites Italy

I'll be back in England by May, then I thought I would head down to Italy on scouting trips, check out some places with an eye to living rather than just visiting. I am hoping to be in a place by...

Re: Long Term Let Websites Italy

I'm moving to Italy this summer and from what I've heard on these forums it's important to make sure everything is understood and official when renting. I know agencies take a big fee for long-term...

Re: Snow in Cesena today

Unbelievable! It's my last winter in Toronto before moving to Italy and there is nothing here, winter has abandoned the city to an extended autumn. We've had +10 temperatures and only a few...

Re: Euro - No Euro? What to do?

It's selfish of me to say so because it will complicate things for a lot of people, but I'm half hoping Italy does drop out of the Euro, it will make things a lot more affordable for those of us with...

Re: Possibly heading for Italy

One of the reasons I read these forums in advance of moving next spring is, amongst the all good advice, to hear the worst of living in Italy, for the insights you don't get on visits. I highly doubt...

Re: Moving to Parma!

Is there no help to be had from Parma University? Normally a university has a housing department that is set up to help foreign students, and will have their own accommodation listings.

Re: Padova!?

Good to hear someone else is enjoying the city! Padova seems ideally situated, close to so much beautiful countryside, the mountains, and a lot of interesting cities (Venice!).

I'll be looking for...

Re: Padova!?

I heard from a couple of people who had passed through Padova that there are two "good" Indian restaurants, that actually got me pretty excited :D

I remember a decent Chinese restaurant in the...

Re: Padova!?

I'm thinking about Padova when I move to Italy next spring.

It seems to have a lot going for it from what I've read: a beautiful city centre, plenty to do and by all accounts a good 'buzz' to it,...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

Good point, I'm always thinking everything's connected, especially in countries renown for their bureaucracy, but I should know it's more likely to be the opposite!

I guess I'll show them my...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

That would be my situation initially at least, I wouldn't be working during the transition period so I'd be using savings.

I assumed that applying for residency with reference to savings rather...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

Thanks Lorna, that's a great help! I think I read in another thread (I've been lurking for a while now) that €10k was enough for proof of self-reliance, though I also saw that might vary from place...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

I don't mind paying tax in Italy if I'm living there, using the facilities, the roads, the health service, etc. That only seems fair. I just don't want to have to deal with three different tax...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

I'm British, hopefully that will make things easier.

I'm trying to keep life as simple as possible and avoiding unnecessary complications in the first few months I'm in Italy. I do understand that...

Re: Working from home in Italy to UK employer

I will be in a similar situation when I move to Italy next year, although my income is paid from Canada to my bank in England. At the moment I'm dealing with tax in the UK and 'withholding' in...

Re: Where to sleep in Rome?

We hit a "feels like" temperature of 48 degrees in Toronto a couple of weeks ago, the official temperature was 38, close to a record for here. I'm moving to Italy next year and plan to escape to the...
