Just thought I'd update this thread with my experiences.....

I've now done 3 trades through XE. 2 transferred from the UK to the US the same day. The other took until 9.30 the following day.

Have to agree. At the moment I'm starting afresh in retail (Target). Money isn't exactly what I'm used to but I'm actually enjoying the job :)

We're just looking for houses locally. Found one with 6 bedrooms, HUGE barn, stables and 5 acres of land for $185K. Not sure I'd find a comparible house in the UK for around 115 gbp so at the moment...

In Maine a UK license is valid for 12 months apparently. However the person that told me that (someone I spoke on the telephone to at the BMV) also said I didn't need to do a road test.
