Re: Feds to revoke thousands of citizenships

The problem is that this subject is coming up again and again. When did Kenney anounce that ? In the summer? and why hasn't happend anything then?

How often is he going to anounce this in the...

Re: Importing a vehicle from mainland europe to Canada?

Thank you for sharing the whole experience. In my case it's about a 1995 Volkswagen.

So, the car is simply driven into the container? and handbreak pulled? - like on a car ferry. RORO, would...

Re: Need Car Insurance in the GTA???

Thank you for the answer. Well, now I know what I should be asking for from my current car insurance company in Europe. Since I neither had an accident, nor did I ever claim anything, they'll put...

Re: Day trip to Seattle without PR Card?

I don't have any Vancouver-specific information, but I was told, to put as much as possible on the "Goods to follow" list, since that would be treated as "tax free" to bring into the country, even if...

Re: House purchase

ok, understood.
But still, I think compared to the "stamp dutiy" in the UK, it's still cheaper in Canada when buying a property, whilst, anual property tax compared to the "Tax table of the council...

Re: Need Car Insurance in the GTA???

Yes, I know, in whichever terms the no-claims-bonus is expressed in country A, is most likely not understood in country B.

But, if a clear letter stating the number of years the vehicle has been...

Re: Importing a vehicle from mainland europe to Canada?

To me it's a little the same like you described.

Just let me know how you get on with it, which shipping companies you used, and how the paper work went?

Re: TV and DVD Player, both from the UK

Yes, but to me, TV and DVD player both UK models do exist already. It's not really what I can or can not find in Canada, more wether both titems togehter and converted to 110 volts would work.

Re: House purchase

my personal advice would be not to worry so much about the Land Transfer Tax, but more about what is expected in relation to the anual property tax. They can be rather high in some places.

Re: UK mobile phone contracts

Thanx for sharing the experience.

Basically what the companies do is sell you the phone "in advance", and during the time of a 24 month contract you basicaly pay the phone.....

Re: TV and DVD Player, both from the UK

Thanx. It's just that I'd be sipping a lot of my personal content over to canada, bringing the TV along would not be a big extra cost..... No, neither the TV, nor the DVD player support 110...

Re: Need Car Insurance in the GTA???

Seems like a contradition here. Sure, I'd be able to supply a letter from my curent insurance company, stating my no clames bonus, plus a contact for reference.
Now, would that work for the...

Re: UK House sale price hit

I am actually surprised that the price drop you all indicated here is around 5 to 15% only. The way the current economy is going, the way that the financial sector is sheding jobs, I'd say, a price...

Re: UK House sale price hit

I'd say, given the fact the UK economy is in at the moment, a reduction beween 3 or 15 % is still a good sale in my eyes. Even at that stage, prices are still overvalued and banks are in genereal...

Not using your SIN doesn't automatically mean that you really left the country. You could also be in Canada, have...

To me...

Transfer of funds UK to Canada.

The question may have been asked many times, even tough I didn't find any canada-specific discussion here in the forum.

Which experiences do you have in transfering money from the UK to Canada?...
