Go with the strongest currency as it will buy you more on a foreign exchange. If you are unsure which (sterling/euro) then buy a bit of each.

Thanks micmc47, it would be really helpful to find out how you get on. Is it really possibel to get your rates (council tax) reduced because property values have reduced?

Agreed Big Ant. Portugal (like many other countries) has yet to hit the bottom of this cycle. There is no quick way out. It is an economic cycle which is going to take sometime to work through.
