Re: immigration reform for families

Well as his wife I take offence to being referenced as a hog as I assure you I'm the only thing he's screwing.

No one on this form can give an answer to the OP. The bills are being discussed in...

Re: Birth Certificate?

I believe we sent a photo copy of his BC with the I-130 (not 100% sure) but I know we sent a certified plus a photocopy with the DS-230. And my husband has a certified copy to take to the interview...

Re: UKUSA2013's I-864 Questions

Nothing that I have heard of (someone correct me if I'm wrong). All being a joint sponsor is is saying if your sponsor (your wife) can not financially support you (the immigration), the joint sponsor...

Re: sister in law

Yeah I work with a girl whose husband came over here in '99 legally from Mexico. He over stayed and they went through an immigration lawyer to get everything legal with him, they never had to leave.

Re: Baby born in the US - Did you/are you teaching them what it is to be British?

What is considered polite also differs. I was born and raised in the South, it was ingrained in me for as long as I can remember to say 'yes ma'm and no sir'. Not to do so ia rude and disrespectful....

Re: Baby born in the US - Did you/are you teaching them what it is to be British?

Actually the OP - my husband - was referring to me telling him I wanted to surround our children with just as much British culture as possible as we do their American culture.

Re: Baby born in the US - Did you/are you teaching them what it is to be British?

I personally believe we as Americans say 'I'm Irish' or 'I'm British' to connect us with a country that is much older than our own. Compared to the rest of the world we are but a child. It's also due...

Re: I-864 Time Line

Thank you Jeff. Basically I was trying to find out if this was going to be another long waiting period like it was during the I-130 for them to approve. We did submit to the USCIS US lockbox. I've...

Re: I-864 Time Line

Yes I'm aware of this. I guess a better wording of the question is how long does the I-864 generally take to be approved (and when i say approved i mean looked at and verified the sponsor meets the...

I-864 Time Line

I tried searching but couldn't find anything (or I'm just not searching the right terms) but I was curious if anyone knows the time frame for I-864's? With the I-130 they give you a rough estimate of...

Re: this time a quick question about I-864...

Te instructions actually say as a bonus (okay, not that exact wording) you can submit a employment letter and six months of pay stubs. It's not required but my understanding helps prove your current...

Re: Calling all South Carolina peeps!!

I love South Carolina. I was born and raised there (I'm Civilservant's wife) and have been living in Georgia for almost 4 years now. I miss SC and go back frequently to visit family and friends. It's...

Re: I-130 petition

It grants you nothing more than the right to move on to the next stage of the visa process.

Re: I-130 petition

Yes she can visit but as Jef pointed out this is not a simple 90 day process. Normally it takes 8-10 months although in mine and my husband's case it's taken 9 months just to get the I-130 approved.

Re: Consulate location - what the?

Yours went to a field office to be approved, right?

I called NVC this week (just out of curiosity) and the lady said ours was recieved March 27th but no case number had been given to it.

Re: Consulate location - what the?

Re: mzqadils' I-130 filed in USA - questions

It's the US government, simply because it says it doesn't mean it will happen. When we submitted ours the VSC was slammed with petitions so the time frame for them lengthened.

Re: I-864 questions

Actually thank you for saying this Ian, I wasn't aware of that. I assumed that same logic applied if the sponsor and joint sponsor couldn't make enough. Good for future advice giving. :)

Re: Visiting USA during I-130 pending

You'd tell them you are visiting family. If they probe more say you have a I-130 pending an show them the I-797.

Re: I-864 questions

No. You wife is the petitioner, therefore she checks only the 'I am a petitioner box'. Her mom checks 'I am a joint sponsor'.

The first or two joint sponsors is only used when literally you have...
