Check the states from their offical websites. Listen to your hearth then.

When you choose a state, you have to live in that state minimum 2 years. So dont choose a place where you don't wanna go :)

Do you work with a agent or not? We paid 500AUD for sponsorship application.

Also for DIAC application I guess the fee is around 2500AUD. Married or single doesn't matter.

Sponsorship approval comes around 1-2 months in normal conditions. In 2010 we applied for sponsorship on April, then a suspended happened and we got our approval on October... Soooo good luck

In this statement, you'll write about yourself and why you wanna live in that state. (For education, suitable for family environment, etc)...

You should live in state that you have been sponsored but it is not a rule! There is no punishment or something else in the laws. More likely it is a ethical thing.
