Thanks Tockalosh - really helpful! Based on the feedback here I did go back to my employer to ask for private health care and schooling. They have agreed to provide medical! but for wife and 2 kids...

interesting perspective bluecat .. we don't shop at matalan and primark here but don't go down to burberry's, LV every week either..! its about maintaining a decent standard of living with the odd...

thanks norsk! this is very helpful. by local package i mean i will be hired as a local i.e. no tickets back home etc.! i'm not too fussed about that really but given the high rent and schooling...
